Registered in January 1955 and with its current owner since 2013, this is an early example of an XK140. Before it arrived in the current collection, it underwent a full body-off chassis restoration with the engine rebuilt by Sigma Engineering before later having an interior restoration.
In recent years the car has been properly recommissioned for the road. A new fuel tank and gauge sender, a fully overhauled brake system with new master cylinder, and new adjustable AVO front dampers, the kind of work that makes a classic genuinely driveable rather than something you worry about on a sunny Sunday.
It drives as it should. The engine is strong, the overdrive gearbox performs exactly as expected, and the car handles as you'd expect from Jaguar's 50s flagship.
The body and paintwork are in good condition without pretending to be concours - this is an honest, usable motorcar rather than a trailer queen. The hood and frame work as they should, the removable side screens are present, and the tonneau cover is included.
